I Won The Lottery!

Updated: Mar 6, 2021

A couple weeks ago the lottery was worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Unable to resist that kind of temptation, my husband bought a ticket. The next morning, after the winning numbers were drawn, he called to tell me we won.

He asked me what would change in our lives? I thought about it for a minute…

Other than the obvious things like, ‘pay off the car’ or ‘never have to worry about college for our kids.’ We started really asking ourselves, if money was no longer a factor in our decision making, what would we do with our time?’

I realized that many of my dreams would still exist; I would still pursue writing, speaking, and working with people to level up their lives. The interesting thing was, taking money out of the equation changed my definition of success.

If making x amount of money each year was no longer a factor – other things become the milestone markers of success.

Think about it for a minute, if you weren’t worried about paying bills or trying to plan for your future – if all of that was suddenly taken care of – what would be your new definition of success?

What feeling would you be chasing? What achievements would you seek? What would change in your life? What wouldn’t?

It’s an interesting exercise. In an instant it shows you where your heart really lies, what you really want for your life, what you really want to be doing and who you want to be doing it with. It shows you what would really make you feel fulfilled in life.

In case you’re wondering, we really did win the lottery. Well, we had one of the winning numbers anyway, worth a value of $4.

It was a big day. Not because we became near billionaires, but because we thought like one for a moment.

One of the things so many people in the personal development or manifestation fields teach is the importance of thinking about what you want in life as if its already done. That day, as we contemplated winning the lottery, somehow it was easy to do that.

We felt what it would feel like to have the money monkey off our backs, and we were able to dream freely. We had clarity around what we wanted in life, and it was beautiful and greatly impactful.

I invite you to give this a try; imagine you just won the lottery. After you go through the initial, ‘here’s what I’d do with the money’ thoughts, think about what you’d do after all the debt was paid, the toys were bought, and the trips were planned.

What would you do with the next ten years of your life? What would you do to feel fulfilled?

How would you show up in the world if you got to live in that heart space of only doing things that make you feel fulfilled?

I invite you to not only contemplate these things, but to practice showing up like that NOW. To feel as if its done, to connect with that version of yourself, and operate from that heart space.

What happens next, may surprise you…

Wishing you a wonderful week.

With love and gratitude,

Robin
