Today begins a new moon – a time for setting intentions. As I prepared to meditate on my intentions for this new month, I realized that so often our intentions are about the things we want to get. Whether it’s more money, a new relationship, that problem being solved, or this new opportunity - we tend to focus on the THINGS we want to come our way.
The truth is, those things may bring temporary joy or relief – but they won't make us happy in the long run. What makes us happy isn’t what we get – it’s what we give; it’s how we show up, its who we are.
Try to recall a time you received a gift that you loved, and what that felt like.
Now, recall a time you gave a gift that was loved, and how that felt. It's substantially different, isn't it? The level of joy and happiness that we get when we GIVE is far greater than when we get - so why not make that our focus?
Whether you’re someone who enjoys setting intentions with the new moon, or not – this is your invitation to consider, not WHAT you want for you want for your future, but WHO you want to be. I invite you to join me this week in setting intentions for how you want to show up in the world, the way you want to feel, and how you want to serve. The material stuff always has a way of working itself out. Let us focus on being the best versions of ourselves, and have faith that the rest will fall into place.
May you see the great gift of who you are and not what you have.
Wishing you a joyful and blessed week. With love and gratitude, Robin
